How It Began

The Eastern North Carolina Shag Club (ENCSC) was founded in 1985 as a non-profit dance club.

From the beginning, the club has existed for one simple reason: to bring people together around music they love and a dance they enjoy.

We invite everyone to browse our site and enter the fun-filled shagger's lifestyle of Eastern North Carolina.

Who We Are

Most of our members belong to the 50+ "baby boomer" era, but we encourage and support dancers of all ages to come join and see who we are.

The Traditions We Keep

The ENCSC enjoys, upholds and perpetuates three living traditions.

Rhythm and Blues

The soulful sound that gave shag music its heartbeat.

Beach and Shag Music

The music that fills every Tuesday dance night and every club party.

Shag Dancing

A smooth, relaxed partner dance that members of every age can learn and enjoy.

Part of a Larger Family

Our club is a member of the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs, an organization of over 100+ non-profit shag clubs stretching from Baltimore to Miami.

The association keeps pushing further west every day, as the fun-filled shagger's lifestyle is experienced by more and more people. Being part of it lets our members share in joint events such as the SOS parties at North Myrtle Beach.
